The design of Visconti's Homo Sapiens Carbon Abyssus rollerball pen is inspired by the nocturnal sea, and it's engineered for light weight. The body is forged carbon, with the carbon fibres making a swirling pattern, with highlights from blue anodised aluminium alloy foil mixed in. The new material uses more densely packed carbon, while the metal parts are now made from Ergal, an aluminium alloy used in the aerospace industry for its high strength and light weight.

The cap has a magnetic seal, with a sprung pocket clip.
